Was it wrong that I was perfectly fine with Rachel being arrested I know she's a sexual assault victim, and I do feel for her in that regard, but her story was nothing extraordinary and I don't understand why we needed a large chunk of the season dedicated to her being missing.
I was so happy for Cornell that she finally got the right person and closed a case! I've come to enjoy Cornell this past season, and I never anticipated that ever happening! So I was genuinely happy for her.
Season 2 ended with Andrea solving the case and going home to find her house broken into before being shot at by a mystery individual. That finale suggested the makers of the show were counting on it being renewed for a third season so the cliffhanger could play out properly. However, this has yet to actually happen, and probably won't.
ABC announced in May 2017 that they had canceled Secrets And Lies alongside several other shows, including fellow anthology series American Crime and comedy Last Man Standing. Whereas Last Man Standing was resurrected by Fox, it seems unlikely Secrets And Lies will have similar luck. Though the show had decent ratings during its first season, viewership dropped dramatically in season 2. Some think the reason ratings plummeted was due to scheduling issues. The first season ran from March through May and Secrets And Lies was quickly renewed for a second season after the final episode aired.
The cliffhanger ending that Secrets And Lies season 2 left off with is a perfect example of how TV series can run into story trouble if they assume future greenlighting. Leaving off on an uncertain note can make viewers eager to see more and possibly motivate a network to renew the show for more seasons. As in the case of shows like Secrets And Lies or Amazon Prime's series Utopia, however, it can also backfire and lead to dangling questions that will never be addressed if the renewal doesn't happen. The medium of TV does lend itself well to the model of leaving some threads loose for future seasons to pick up, but a big cliffhanger like the one Secrets And Lies used is much more of a gamble. Plenty of other shows over the years have made similar miscalculations, such as Pushing Daisies, Moesha, and Hannibal. Unfortunately for Secrets And Lies, though, its prospects of miraculous resurrection seem lower than any of these.
The fact that Big Daddy Warner turned out to have two families stretched things a bit. John was running S.E.G. until recently and while his one wife was in a coma it must have been terribly difficult to run the business and juggle two houses at the same time.
The very tail end of the second episode makes it seem that a third season may not be in the running for this American revamp of a one season Aussie detective series. Cornell arrives home, after the Major celebrates her victorious solving of the case with her new partner and a glass of whiskey, to find her drug addict daughter riffling through her bedroom drawers.
This was eventually explained by the reveal of a drug addict daughter and an ex husband who was seriously letting the side down. It is quite possible that those who watched the first season of Secrets and Lies knew why Cornell was so grumpy.
It remains to be seen as to whether this rehash of a one season wonder from the land down under will come back for a third time at bat. The series is complex enough as a murder mystery that ABC could well greenlight another season.
In return for $5.7 million in tax credits that the studio can only use against its California state tax liability (credits for publicly traded studios cannot be refunded for cash or sold to other taxpayers), Secrets and Lies will spend a total of $35 million in the Golden State to produce its second season. This spending will support 128 cast, 185 crew and over 1,800 background positions in California.
Kligman said many of the advantages of shooting in California are the well-known tangibles like world class stages, highly skilled crews, diverse backlots and reliable weather were already making a huge difference to the production, which was then just one week into shooting season two. Beyond the obvious, Kligman said other differences are hard to describe.

Amanda claimed that she was mingling with the crowd, but the truth came out that Amanda was with Kate and later killed her. While Amanda's motive was jealousy over Kate's pregnancy, and she did state that doctors told her that she was going through menopause and could not get pregnant, Cornell informed Amanda that the doctors were wrong and after testing her blood, Amanda was indeed pregnant.

After a mind-blowing season 2 finale, fans are wondering about the possibilities of \"Secrets and Lies\" season 3. In a recent interview, the show's executive producer, Barbie Kligman, talked about what fans can expect from a potential third season of the mystery series.
The last episode of \"Secrets and Lies\" season 2 shocked fans as Kate's killer was revealed to be Amanda. Apparently, Amanda got jealous after learning that Kate was pregnant, especially because her own infertility issues resulted in a divorce, only to know later that she was also pregnant.
\"Secrets and Lies\" suffered a decline in ratings during season 2. The first episode of the second season only had more than 4 million viewers, which is fewer than the episode with the lowest ratings in \"Secrets and Lies\" season 1. The ratings further went down in the following episodes, as the first eight episodes averaged to 3.22 million viewers, almost half of the 5.61 million average of the first season.
Talking about Juliette Lewis' character, Kligman hinted the possibility of Andrea Cornell ending up as the victim in \"Secrets and Lies\" season 3. \"There's a world where that could happen,\" she said. She further explained that the entire season might explore about who could have done the crime. \"And given how many enemies Cornell has made over the years, there certainly wouldn't be a shortage of suspects,\" she added.
